Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers

Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide, with non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) accounting for the majority of cases. These cancers are often more treatable than melanoma, especially when detected early. Most common non-melanoma skin cancers are: Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) and Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC). While they typically grow slowly and are less likely to spread to other parts of the body, they can still cause significant damage to the skin and underlying tissues if left untreated.

Both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are highly treatable when detected early, and most cases do not result in serious health problems. The key to effective treatment is early identification, so be proactive in monitoring your skin and consulting your dermatologist for any concerning changes. If you notice any new growths or changes to existing moles or skin lesions, it’s important to get them evaluated.
